Day 151
11 miles to the Cookie Lady, dinner at American Legion, stay with Mitch, American Legion member. Grit, the caretaker of the cabin, makes pancakes in the morning and SOBOs brought some blueberries which were amazing. Will felt bad that I wasn’t able to spend time to enjoy the cabin so we planned to stay there later in the morning, then we would hike to the car and move up got the cookie lady. It was lovely to set on the dock and put our feet in the water, watch the fish and salamanders and talk to Frolick, a section hiker from Boston who is a special ed teacher. The hike was short to the car. We did have some trail magic-Stilts started in May and is from near here, so his mom was picking him up for the day and was so excited to see him. The cookie lady 2.0 lives on a blueberry farm which was absolutely delightful, and she is so incredibly nice. The hibiscus tea was fantastic, and I got some blueberry tea bags and post cards as well. After everyone got there we headed up to North Adams, the American Legion has been following DogTag and offered to take us to dinner. The Commander, Dave, and Adjunct, Mitch are 2 of the nicest guys. The post had a map that has pins filling the posts and videos. Dinner was great, we got to meet several members and it was fun chatting, but it was really encouraging and affirming to hear DogTag and Sourpatch talk about what this mission means to them and hear the support from the members of the post.
