Day 149

Written on Jul 22nd 2025 at 4:00 AM

18.8 miles to Beartown State Park (Mosey 14.9) it was nice and chilly overnight and pretty open view of the stars, and my sleeping pad repair held so I slept well. I started ahead of Steady and Sourpatch; Dogtag and Silverback were headed south. Weather was again gorgeous and the trail was so nice, flat and easy for a lot through pines-my absolute favorite. We came to trial magic-there is a local pastor who organizes different groups to support hikers Mon-Sat every day for 8 weeks! I got to pet a Schnauzer named Tobi and chat with some awesome ladies. The rest of the trail continued to be pretty good, some rocky places and a couple of climbs but overall manageable. I have forgotten how to be cold-for so long it was second nature on how to get in my sleeping in quilt and get strapped in and get warm, but it’s been so hot and humid I have sometimes just slept in the liner. I will be having Houston send the cold weather gear-The Whites and Maine are not too far off!
