Day 129

12.9 miles to Smith Gap Rd. This was the scariest day of “hiking.” Coming out of Lehigh Gap is more of a climb and scrambling. And it goes on for a long time. So glad it wasn’t raining and didn’t have a full pack, that was treacherous at baseline and with those other factors would have been so much worse. The rest of the day was still a lot of smaller rocks so not fast. I saw a rattlesnake and a weasel-not at the same time, and some fun new plants, good views. I talked to Nomad a couple days ago-he started hiking here in the very rocky section and didnt realize hiking can actually be nice where you can look around and don’t have to constantly be worrying about falling or breaking an ankle. It made me think that if I had started hiking in this area when I lived here years ago, I probably would have quit and wouldn’t be where I am now.
