Day 117
17.2 slack to Hunters Run. The trail was suspiciously nice again. It’s tricking us into thinking PA won’t be a challenge and lulling us into a false sense of security, but I am appreciating it while I can. We passed the official and ceremonial halfway points!!!!! To celebrate a lot of hikers do the half gallon challenge and attempt to eat a half galling of ice cream in one sitting. However Hershey’s doesn’t come as a half gallon anymore so you have to do the 1.5 quart and a pint. Me and Sourpatch are not about that stomach ache, especially when it’s hot and we still got 8 miles to go. We attempted to share a 1.5 quart of PB cookies and cream and were defeated. Dogtag was victorious over a pint of raspberry truffles. Steady is about doing things “for the plot” and conquered her orange sherbert and birthday cake with cheers! Afterwards we visited the AT museum and saw the huge furnace that they used to melt coal back in the day, and headed back up the trail. Finished the day at green mountain deli with a sandwich and birch beer
