Day 116

Written on Jun 19th 2025 at 4:00 AM

10.9 to Shippensburg Rd. Today we get to pick up Dogtag, so we planned a shorter day. The trail today was wet but otherwise glorious. My current definition of “cruisey” (what we always hope the trail to be) is something I can run on, not steep, not rocky, not too many roots, preferably pine duff or that lovely packed mud. I actually ran a bit cause I was feeling good and the trail was delightful and it wasn’t too hot. We met at the car (I just did out and back to save time) and about 20 mins after it started to storm, so our timing was excellent. we also stopped at a fruit stand-I had no idea apples are so huge in this part of PA. Had an AMAZING apple cider slush and got some other little treats and fresh fruit. So happy I pulled over! We stayed at Ironmasters Mansion Hostel. One of the girls staying is Gazelle, who is going for a self supported FKT. Tara Dower (current supported FKT holder) actually talked about her at trail days-Gazelle was pacing her and got stung by a LOT of bees, and had a reaction but luckily was ok. It’s so neat that we are getting to meet people doing such cool things.
