Day 109

Day109 14.2 miles to Blackburn Trail Center. We started the day together and all hiked into the 1000 mile mark to celebrate as a group and take some pictures. Then Will and I hiked back for the car to move up. He wasn’t feeling well so he ended up just hanging out at the trail center while I hiked SOBO. Today was hot and humid and miserable and the terrain was part of the Rollercoaster, a lot of short up and downs but it is incredibly rocky. I had made the decision to go halfway and turn around-technically kissing some trail but still getting the miles in. I met steady about 1.5 miles and she was like “no, don’t do it, turn around, it’s awful” and since she hasn’t steered me wrong I took her advice. I kept trying to remind myself that I am a southern. Girl and spent last summer hiking in Georgia heat and humidity but it didn’t help. We did cross into West Virgina today. At the state line we were with Sparrow and Scraps and sparrow is singing a song at every state line, so she sang country roads and What Did I Miss from Hamilton.
