Day 41

Written on Apr 5th 2025 at 4:00 AM

15.9 miles to Jerry’s Cabin Shelter. Longest hiking day! Got started early knowing that we were trying to go far. We came across the Southern Cookie Lady! Her cookies were fantastic, but she is also raising money for the Hot Springs Library, so for a donation Will got a cinnamon roll and I got a blueberry cobbler. These were AMAZINGGGGG!!! If you are looking to help, here are a few ways you could donate to help rebuild Hot Springs, and the library. They lost almost 5000 books in the flood. •https://friendsofhotspringslibrary.org (monetary donations for library) •https://bit.ly/hsl-adoption (has a list of books they are requesting and you can send one to the library •https://rebuildhotsprings.org (donations directly to town

We also got trail magic at a shelter from a family who lives close and brought up hotdogs and fruit and drinks. Sour patch and steady took the regular trail to run the ridge. I took the bypass trail because it was already late and I didn’t want to get caught in the dark. I did get followed by a very curious deer. Made it to camp just past sundown.
