Day 151

Written on Aug 4th 2021 at 6:06 AM

8/3/21 Decided for one more slack pack day while Laurie waits for her daughter who will be arriving tomorrow driven here by a friend to take her home and bring the camper home. Her arm is doing okay. Had shuttle driver take me up to the trail. Actually went southbound. Crossed into Vermont and passed the 1,600 mile marker. Trail in parts quite muddy. Actually the Long trail starts at the Mass border going to Canada thru the length of Vermont. The Long trail is 273 miles and the AT coincides with it for 105 miles. Saw some NOBOs I knew. Trail basically goes steadily down in elevation all the way down into the town of Williamstown,MA. Evidence of prior fire noted in vegetation near trail around border. Trail climbs rather gradually 3,000 feet to the summit of Mount Greylock highest peak in Mass at 3,491 feet. It had a large nice veterans war memorial. Weather was nice today.
