Day 147

Written on Jul 31st 2021 at 8:12 PM

7/31/21 Yesterday took a zero day to rest do laundry, resupply and went to the post office. Laurie dropped me off at the trail and initially hiked over Baldy Mountain which was not bald and there were no views. Weather was perfect for hiking cool, sunny with light breeze. Trail was smooth but in places quite muddy. Multiple streams crossed.Passed Knee Deep Pond and Goose Pond with old chimney. Picture taken. Lots of mushrooms seen.Saw only a few hikers. Crossed over Mass Turnpike on hiker bridge.Climbed over Becket Mountain again no views. Met Laurie at County Road she had taken a shuttle there and hiked 2 miles to October Mountain Shelter which was surprisingly crowded with weekend campers. The trail actually at times had water flowing down it.
