Day 146

Written on Jul 30th 2021 at 9:15 PM

7/28/21 Walked up the road from the camper to start back on the AT by myself with Laurie joining me after I had hiked 7.2 miles being dropped off by a shuttle driver and then started hiking. A Ridge Runner named Pharoah hiked with me for a while. Saw a few SOBO’s. Climbed Mount Bushnell with picture taken. Walked on bog bridges and mosquitoes were terrible.Passed a monument on the road to Shays Rebellion. Laurie had met several trail angels from a local church who had everything and wete cooking on a grill. They saved a hamburger for me. Caught up with Laurie and hiked along the Housatonic River. Climbed up to some ledges with excellent views over to Mount Race, Bear and Everett. Reached Tom Leonard Shelter which was quite crowded. Laurie was exhausted.

7/29/21 Weather initially was cloudy but by early afternoon moderate rain began. Viewed ice gulch right after the shelter and pictures were taken.Passed by several ponds and climbed up to some ledges. Passed by both Mount Wilcox Shelters. Climbed down to first crossing of Jerusalem Road where due to leg fatigue Laurie would wait and I would hike the additional 3.5 miles to her camper at Main Tyringham Road and drive it back to pick her up. I had climbed Cobble Hill which was quite muddy.
