Day 139

Written on Jul 23rd 2021 at 7:53 PM

7/23/21 Last night was fine at the Telephone Pioneer Shelter. Shared with section hiker named “The Greek”. Great weather today for an easy hike. Passed the Dover Oak, next to the road. Largest Oak tree on the AT over 300 years old. Walked on footbridge over River/Swamp to the AT railroad station which goes to NYC. Garden center on road/AT got some ice cream and tea. Hiked thru fields with old wooden water tower. Didn’t follow AT detour and crossed supposedly closed footbridge. Spooky looking tree seen and I took a picture. Crossed into Connecticut and by Ten Mile Hill peak at 1,000 feet tall to the Ten mile River shelter. Several other NOBO’s came after I arrived. Saw 2 SOBO’s.
