Day 3

3/9/21 Today hiked relatively short distance to Gooch Mountain Shelter. Met lots of friendly hikers especially Alisa who Piper likes. Allen decided to keep hiking as next shelter was a good 8 miles down the road. He has to get back to his car as he is leaving the AT with n Friday. Hard saying goodbye to him as he was so helpful and my security blanket. Alisa has offered to show me the ropes about getting into town which I have never done. Piper got to into the tent and is sleeping with no issues. Still barks at certain people not sure why? Hope it stops as she gets used to the routine. No more room at this shelter must be at least 25 tents sets up. Definitely in the bubble and movingw village as the local AT talk goes. Packing everything up in aww the morning and than setting it up takes a lot of time. I hope to get quicker. Hard cause I havew to watch Piper. Weather perfect duringwW the day temps in the 50’s night cold in the 30’s Hiked thru a beautiful Rhododendron forest
