Unapologetically garish and authentically all-American. Like junk food for the senses. A nice juxtaposition to the trail.

Don't trust the rumors of an "easy hitch". I got in from Newfound Gap okay, but it took hours to find someone to take me back.

Margaritaville changed my life. So easy to get a hitch back to Newfound Gap!

tourist traps are fun if you are fun

Awesome town. So many things to do for all walks of life. Eat, drink, and be merry.

Super fun town, Food City for resupply, NOC Outfitter right when you come out of the state park. Check out the moonshine distilleries for tastings.

We got a hitch almost immediately, and the wonderful trail angel who picked us up took us to the grocery store AND waited for us so she could take us to the hotel. We got great rates at a hotel in town and got an easy ride back to trail from another trail angel.

A wild town that's quite the culture shock after coming off the trail. Nonetheless, it's a cool town worth stopping in to get the full thru-hike experience.
