Hitching was hard as one guy standing out there. Someone finally stopped who was parked at the trailhead having lunch but he had hiked a chunk of the trail before. Everyone else just passed by and didn’t acknowledge me. The grocery and Jensen’s is fine but mildly expensive. Great food options around town. Free coffee at one place if you’re a hiker. Lodging is okay. We stayed at the Pine Lodge Motel and it was $200/night with no bath and no washer. Not worth it at all but oh well. There may be better options. Loads of trail angels were helping us all around the fire closure. Very friendly town.
Very hiker friendly town; the supermarket has a lot of hiker food but a bit expensive. The Mountain Hardware store (no relation to the gear brand) is a great area to hang out & they give out PCT hiker pins there when you sign in the hiker register.
Looooved Wrightwood! Everyone was so helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We stayed with a wonderful trail angel for two days, resupplied at the store and outfitter and ate amaaazing food. Definitely top three on the fave trail towns.
It has an grocery store and outfitter. What it does not have is a laundry. We stayed in a motel and they gave us a bucket, soap and a clothes line. Excellent food and beer.
