Just a quick word of warning to anyone booking at the Cajon Pass Inn. I had booked a room there last summer prior to a visit to Silverwood Lake. I noticed it seemed to cater to the hiking community given the proximity to the trails in the area. Unfortunately, I had made the reservation through Priceline and the hotel mysteriously "lost" it. The Priceline rep was unable to resolve the issue with them and my two choices were 1) pay the hotel the rack rate, or 2) drive down to Phelan, stay there and drive back up in the morning. I chose #2, resulting in a morning traffic jam and late start. Although it wouldn't have been a deal-breaker, it should be noted that this hotel has NOT been a Best Western in years and virtually none of the amenities listed on their own or third party sites appeared to be in effect, in particular the free breakfast. The mountain scenery in the area is beautiful but lodging wise I would have been better off camping.

This place is unfortunately disgusting. Trash everywhere. Sensory overload with loads of traffic and people. You can walk to McDonald’s but personally I did the food trucks down the street. The Cajon Pass Inn was $97 for the night and was pretty dingy and gross. I needed it after a long day but still, wasn’t great. There’s a Del Taco and a Subway too. Also two convenient stores. Nothing special but worth getting a midday bite to eat and topping off since it’s a short walk off trail.

Nice small stop, Best Western was reasonably priced with very fast WIFI and nice pool and hot tub. Multiple fast food options and well stocked gas stations make for a great fresh food resupply for the short trip up the mountain to Wrightwood.
