Easy hitch. 2 different markets which were both good. Lodging was expensive for a private room. Would try to stay in Auntie’s yard next time.
Very easy hitch to Julian. A trail angel named Rangel brought me immediately and then took me back. Resupply is limited to 2 convenient stores and is pricey. 2 foot adventures has your minimal gear needs covered. It’s a cool town with great food options and they’re very hiker friendly.
I got a hitch in 30 seconds from Scissors Crossing. Julian Beer Company was awesome. The IPA, huge slice of cheese pizza, and enormous Cesar salad were awesome! (OK, maybe 2 IPAs) Resupply is a bit expensive, as usual, in a small mountain town, but there was almost everything I needed. I was sick and found big bags of inexpensive hard candy at a gift shop, for my sore throat, which was helpful. Unexpected shops for resupply can sometimes be cheaper. Super easy to hitch back from near Post Office.
One word: MOMS PIES!!! There’s a great market with food and camping supplies across the street ad , if need be, you can sleep overnight on the porch of the hamburger shop across from Mom’s pies.
Very Hiker friendly. Many stores had special gifts for hikers. Check out Mother’s Pie shop. Lots of locals willing to give rides back to the trail. Great place to go to eat.
Hitching across the street of library was super easy and quick!
This town was amazing as far as hiker friendly... Many of the stores had freebies just for hikers... This is one of my bravo rite towns on the trail... :)
It is a beautiful town with excellent pie and beer. The lodging from a hotel perspective is excellent, but very expensive. As you are only looking to resupply for a couple of days from here, there is plenty of the standard hiker fare. There are fuel canisters for sale.
Top 3 towns I went through. I went through while the super bloom was happening and the town was so busy. Can't say about hitching, got a ride from Ghost as soon as I got to scissors. Everything went right for me here, loved it.
