Today was a well deserved rest day, after 50 miles I need a shower a good hot meal and to my surprise, that was not going to happen, I did get a shower, it wasn't to warm but it made me a bit happier to be clean. The morning was very cold and I had to dry out a lot of my gear before I could pack it up, which was ok because of the rest day. But I did have time to be a little kid and build a snowman ☃️☃️☃️ laughing and giggling the whole time ? Tomorrow I will start out early to get a jump on the rain that is coming in.
Today I work too rain clouds rolling in It was like a fog of rain that just lightly misted you all day long and then steadily got hotter and harder It was a 14 mile hike today up and over about Laguna three different passes it was really nice to see how the elevation changed so quickly over the terrain the sage smelled so good as the rain came down making it refreshing throughout the whole day. As I finally reached one of the saddles the sun finally broke which made me so happy and thankful thinking and I was going to be able to try out some gear but that didn't happen for the moment I sat down for lunch the rain clouds snuck in on me and started pouring down again on me so lunch was cut short only to get through the next pass where the sun stayed bright and shiny with bluebird sky days for the rest of the day that debated on staying up on the Ridgeline but want to make it down thankfully I did because it is snowing as I speak in the Kent right now and what an inch and a half of snow has come down it's going to be a cool chilly night tonight. One thing I did get to do is make a snowman on the trail I saw an open patch of snow that hadn't been stepped on yet so I built the snowman and I hope it brightens everybody say who walks by it.
This morning I woke up to a frozen tent everything was Chrisley glistening off the morning sun It was a very chilly moment. As I watch the sunrise I set up a few clothes lines to dry out my tent sleeping bag and everything else that got a a solid coating of ice and frost all over them throughout the night, as everything was drying out went made some breakfast got a little resupply at a store down the street then headed out met up with a few people and hiked with them they were having a little trouble so we made a small trudge up and down the desert floor to a few really cool sage meadows that blew my mind It was so nice I love the smell of sage made it to Boulder Oaksaks campsite. Where they were trail angels helping out and giving all the PCT hikers some love with food cold drinks and great conversation throughout the evening more people from the PCT and our little new tramway side rolling into camp, We ended the night with a campfire and stories galore from good days bad days and the good old times It was a perfect day
A lovely sunrise with a very smooth down hill hike to a low canyon , where I got to dry out my tent and a few other things, grabbed a Snack-A-Doodle then headed up the other side to a very hot sunny exposed clim b to a nice plateau ridge where the wind was blowing so smoothly followed me all the way down to the end of where I'm camping at lake Laguna right now What a great day.
Got to the selling terminus at 9:00 a.m. beautiful 70° day so nice so amazing to start a journey of a lifetime and worth one foot in front of the other here we go
Yesterday landed in San Diego walked around the bay a little bit and at night meet up with a group of PCT hikers and trail angles, a nice meet and greet where we could talk about experiences on and off the trail, giving each other advice on this big adventure that is to come. Today I will be getting all my food ready for four day hike and that I will start hiking the trail tomorrow morning. It's about a 45-minute drive from San Diego to Campo where this trail starts.
