Day 131
Campsite to ollalie to warm springs river - 27.7 miles
Total - 2067.7 miles
What a day that I can barely remember. I couldn’t write this last night bc I was so ill that all I could think of was sleep. We woke up in a cloud which drenched everything which is always fun to pack up. It was cold too so we started hiking in puffys under the brilliant sunrise. Immediately got too hot and took them off after 30 minutes and cruised the rest of the way downhill to a service road where we found yeti! He said he was taking it all the way into ollalie to cut off a mile which we of course agreed to. It was pretty rocky at first but it quickly evened out. Anything was better than the actual trail. I was worried I was gonna hit the deck at some points. We got to ollalie resort and found Ben sitting in peace. Immediately I went inside and grabbed two drinks and a small resupply (only cash, thank you mom). It was two extra breakfasts with some more snacks which I ended up munching on before we even left. We dried out our tents and sat around catching up with some familiar faces that we haven’t seen in a long long time. Probably since Kennedy meadows north! Well over a 1000 miles ago. We then headed out to do another 19 miles around 10:30. We intially missed the pct turn off so we had to back track but then we were on our way through a burn zone. We were in and out of burn zones but mostly in the green today which was nice. The next 10 miles were a blur but I was still feeling good. We got to the water and met up with a lot of the crew that was at ollalie but left before us and we chit chatted while eating a late lunch. The last idk how many miles were brutal. I felt so feverish, my tonsils are so swollen along with every single lymph node in my neck, my feet hurt and I was ready to be done but we needed to get to camp. I slowed significantly and was probably the most miserable I’ve been on trail. I got to camp and expressed all this to Marc. It took me ten times longer to get my tent up. I ate chicken and rice freeze dried meal with my peach cobbler to bring my mood up which it did and then I went to bed. I couldn’t even write my blog bc I felt so miserably sick. I got 10 hours of sleep though. I was drooling everywhere and my throat hurt all night so I will be taking some ibeprofen to mitigate that tonight.
I forgot to mention while at ollalie we had a brilliant conversation with these two guys. We were talking about how we want a rat to actually use us to do useful things instead of just cook like in ratatouille. Someone said how to change a tire or something and then another guy said quoted “I want a rat to teach me how to trade crypto currency kinda like wolf on Wall Street but rat on Wall Street.” Apparently the two guys had been trying to find a sequel for two unrelated movies as well which they finally found their answer to.
