Day 130
Campsite to campsite - 32.5 miles
Total - 2039.2 miles
Woke up around 5:50 to it being light out. So disorienting as I’m not used to that on trail. I can’t recall a time where I have slept that well on trail and it was glorious. I was warm, and cozy and I couldn’t be happier to wake up at 5:50 instead of 5:30. My body was feeling better as well. I still have a sore throat and my lymph nodes are swollen but I can see an improvement which made me happy. Today was all about mount Jefferson and boy is she a beauty. The entire day we got closer and closer. I was taking picture after picture. We hit a bunch of lakes throughout the day which were gorgeous. Marc’s feet were hurting him all day though and you could tell based on his pace. He was miserable and I felt so bad. The blisters are on the bottom of his soles so it’s hard to bandage them up. I didn’t want to push him but I thought 1. Getting closer to Ollalie resort would be smart for tomorrow and 2. I was feeling good. I felt it out and he wanted to push. We tacked on 7 miles to our original plan of 25 as there was a no camping zone right towards the end of our day making it a lil longer than I would’ve liked. We were in and out of burn zones along the base of mount Jefferson. The mountain made the burn zones worth it. The last 7 miles were all up hill. 2000 ft of elevation gain which seemed hard at some points and easier at others but we finally made the push all the way to the top before finding a camp 0.4 short of our goal. That was fine though as I was tired and it was getting cold. The climb also was gorgeous as it had phenomenal views of mount Jefferson from different angles as well as the streams and flowers made it magical. I was dying nonetheless only wanting to be horizontal but I did take multiple moments to appreciate it. Don’t know how I’m supposed to go back into real life of concrete when this has been my reality for so long. Like I’ve said, the depression will hit hard. The huckleberry bushes are also filled with berries, so I had a few of those. Actually learned they were huckleberries and not blueberries today lol. Other than that I’m fucking tired and we are in a field of rocks for camp. On sand but still in a field of rocks.
Easily one of the most gorgeous days we’ve had on trail since the sierras!
