Day 124

Written on Aug 14th 2025 at 2:24 AM

Campsite to campsite - 31 miles

Total - idfk we took another alternate that cut off 8 miles lol

Woke up to the prettiest of sunrises. It made up for the shit sleep and waking up in a hot sweat during the night. Thinking we had 31 miles today without the alternate we got movin at the usual time. It was a cruisy morning with views here and there. It was a 17 mile water carry to the next water cache and we basically booked it until there. I stopped once to shit for the second time in the morning and another time to filter the liter I was carrying since yesterday. I hiked all alone while Marc booked it ahead of me. Crazy to think the man wasn’t feeling good like four days ago and now he’s pushing huge miles like it’s nothing. I finally caught up to him around 11:20 at the water cache and was informed about the altnerate. 8 mile cut off?! Oh hell yeah I’m doing it. It cuts the mileage down per day also into bend which will make it a lot more enjoyable. We also get to shelter cove a couple hours earlier than expected tomorrow. We waited for rock at the water cache while eating lunch and chit chatting with the Sobos and some nobos. 100% of the people we talked to were taking the alternate which was all of four people so that made me happy. After rock got there and ate a lil we headed out on the VERY dusty 10 mile hike to the horse camp which was about the mid point of the alternate route. It was hot asf like usual but we just chugged along like usual. We passed a couple of lakes that did not produce mosquitos thankfully. Comments on FarOut said that the mosquitos got REALLY bad on the pct route after the water cache so I am thankful for the little bit of peace I still have. We finally hit the road and walked about a mile and a half maybe on pavement which put me in a sour ass mood. We flagged down some cars just to make sure we were going the right way as we couldn’t see the route on FarOut sadly since we were too far off trail. We had some guidelines to follow from a different FarOut comment. We plopped ourselves down at the horse camp at a picnic table and ate dinner. Honestly so thankful as I was so incredibly hangry that everything was annoying me unjustly so. The minute the food hit my stomach, spirits were up. I had to acknowledge it too to the group so they wouldn’t overthink (rocklicker). I scrolled my photos for a bit, making me miss the guys who have left trail. The camp host came out and offered us drinks which we happily took. Then it was off once again. Three more fucking miles. Worst three miles. They felt so incredibly long. Marc wanted to keep going but I whined and told him we needed to stop. I am so incredibly tired. The horrible sleep combined with so many miles is finally getting to me. Plus I am so hungry and I’m basically out of food. I thought I had more bars but I don’t so it might be a tuna sandwich in the morning with one cliff bar. Good news is we hit shelter cove in 7 miles which we can do in 2 hours. Imma muck food. I need it. Then it’s 3 days to mother which will give me another boost.
