Day 119

Written on Aug 9th 2025 at 2:09 AM

Campsite to horse camp - 25 miles

Total - 1745.8 miles

Last night my zipper partly broke but this morning I was a wizard and fixed it. We are back to regular schedule of waking up at 5:30 and hitting trail by 6. Honestly a very uneventful day. We were hiking fast this morning and did 10 before 9am. I was impressed with Marc as he has been off trail for 3 weeks and I’ve got probably 500 miles on him and he still was keeping pace with me. He said he was out of breath and struggling but it didn’t seem like it at all. The morning was a blur as I was giving Marc all the juicy gossip updates that I could think of. He ate it up. He gave me a rundown of the road trip that he took with his WIFE. Omg I love them. We stopped at a piped water source ate a lil and then kept moving. I was munching today actually. I have so much food that I need to munch bc the pack is HEAVY. It was a lot of in and out of the trees, switching from desert like terrain back to shades overgrowth. It was very pleasant especially since there was any large climbs just a lot of up and downs. We are starting to see a lot more SOBO hikers which is exciting. They still have a sparkle in their eyes. California will crush that soon enough. We stopped for lunch and Marc in Marc fashion took a nap while I scrolled lol. Service has been great all day today. We hiked to the shitty water source that tasted like straight fish before I went ahead for the last three miles to camp. We met back up at camp and chilled. Very mellow. We were both so eepy honestly. I almost rolled off the picnic bench as I shut my eyes in the warm sun. It was incredibly pleasant. Tried to find a spigot and came back empty handed so we resorted to the shitty lake water. I have been spoiled with all the springs recently. I set up and since I had been snacking literally all day I decided to wait till six for dinner. I know. Crazy. I had buffalo pasta with two pouch meats (one regular and one Thai chili tuna). Pathetic to say it was spicy but it kept building and I didn’t want to drink the nasty lake water so I doubled down on it. Also I nailed the consistency which you think wouldn’t be hard as it gives you measurements but it’s completely wrong and if you follow them it’s too soupy. All the knorr sides, it’s a guessing game on water. But I nailed it this time. Then we went to bed lol. 7:15 bed time. Glorious

I have been texting Caleb today and he seems super happy to be home so I am happy. I wish he was here obviously as well as ben, Scotty, and others. I am glad I am out here but as people leave it’s not the same. But I get it, because if something happens, or you aren’t having fun, why are you doing it? It’s our first life and we need to have as much fun as we possibly can. Cheesy asf but idc. It’s not worth it to trek on if it’s not providing joy.
