Day 118
Ashland to campsite - 0.8 miles
Total - 1721.6 miles
Woke up around 7 with my stomach still CHURNING. After last night I didn’t want my nasty bowel movements to wake people up so I stayed in bed until 8:15am before going to unload (sorry for the graphics). I then took a shower lol. So so so so bad. That got people moving though. I still wasn’t feeling the best once I got out so we rotted until we went to grab our to go breakfast of packaged processed goods from the front office of the motel. Nothing like pure sugar right off the bat just like trail. Rotted some more before heading out. We drove for 5 hours taking a stop in Shasta to grab my new pad that mom sent to Burney that I bumped up to Shasta and couldn’t pick up due to the post office being closed. Instead of bumping it again rocklicker was kind enough to stop by so I could pick it up as well as we could mail all our thrifted clothes. I also bought stamps so I could start sending post cards again without having to go to the post office for a stamp every time. We then drove the rest of the way to Ashland where we stopped by moms friends house to pick up our gear. I wrote him a thank you note for all that he did for us as it was so kind especially since we were strangers. We then headed to cafe where Klara and I chatted about Vegas and gossiped a lil. Rocklicker went to go say hi to mono and then go pick up Marc from the airport as well as drop off the rental car. Klara and I stopped by the Ashland post office to pick up my new contacts (thank you mom) as well as mail my old pad and two other small things that I haven’t used since the desert. Got like a pound and a half off my back. Stuff is slowly starting to dwindle down to only things I use on a day to day basis. I’m excited to see what my base weight is by the end of the trip. I then spent way too much on a resupply at Safeway even with a discount before parting ways with Klara probably for the final time as she has university at the end of august and is going to trail days while I’m not. She has been such a light on trail and I’m sad to leave her. It doesn’t feel like a goodbye though as I am going to actively try to stay in touch with people once done. I chilled at the library waiting for Marc and rocklicker to come. Rocklicker plans on staying in town while Marc and I are going back to trail just to get an early start. Rocklicker and I discussed the weekend which I will admit I had some explaining to do lol but everything got cleared up. Great communication in the end. Marc and I headed out to grab a hitch back to trail. We had three hits where people weren’t going all the way of where we wanted but luckily a badass lady stopped and was going in the exact direction and lived close to the trail so we hopped into her car after probably 30 minutes. She was sick and hilarious. Probably one of my favorite hitches so far as she was so personable. She stopped by the store as she was picking up beers and gave us one as well. Immediately got drunk off a cider. Once she dropped us off I realized how tipsy I was but that didn’t stop me from completely 0.8 miles of trail to the campsite. Entire time I was yapping Marc’s ear off giving him all the juicy gossip. It’s nice to have him back on trail but sad that Caleb isn’t here. Both guys mean so much to me and I wish the crew of four was still here. We arrived at camp around 8? Maybe a lil later. We ate some ramen, continuing to to yap each others ears off before heading to bed. Late night of 9pm. Again, sorry to disappoint but no pictures which is strange for me honestly. The car ride tuckered me out to not care about taking any pictures.
