Day 113

Written on Aug 3rd 2025 at 2:42 AM

Campsite to piped spring and dirt road - 28.4 miles

Total - 1697.6 miles

Today was a rough day emotionally. Rocklicker and I woke up (4:45am) to hunters driving up the road we were camping on which we didn’t expect at all as it was a rough gravel road. They were super nice though and stopped and hopped out to talk to us and apologize. We ended only having to move a little as they worked their car around us to avoid our gear. Super cheery guys for it being so early. They were super excited that it had thundered and rained as it’s great for the deer. We were not enthused. We didn’t go back to sleep and ended up leaving camp around 5:30am. I sadly had so much dew on my tent that it made everything slightly damp. My clothes were still wet from yesterday making it difficult to put on as they were smelly, cold, and wet. It was a ton of uphill today and we cruised up it as we normally do. In the distance we saw a small fire developing somewhat close to trail. Luckily some other hikers called it in and for the next couple of hours all we heard were planes flying by taking in the scene. It didn’t seem to be growing rapidly though so rocklicker and I cruised past it with no worries. I was drenched in sweat and constantly damp all day. I smell horrid as well as I kept getting whiffs of myself. I can’t lift up my arms or it would kill. Caleb caught up to us around 5ish miles from the oregon border!!!!!! Omg so surreal. I can’t believe we have made it this far. Less than 1000 to go until I’m done with trail. Caleb and I discussed what happened yesterday. While harsh from both ends, we do a really good job at communicating. I think this time it finally hit for both of us and we were both super honest with each other. I love that man like a brother at this point. While we have spats, our friendship is way more important than any spat and we realize that. We both realized each others points which is all that mattered. Then we all walked across the oregon border together before hanging out there for some relaxation and to dry out our gear. Caleb and rocklicker both pissed on california one last time. Then we cruised through the next 4.5 miles into camp where we have a great view of a potential lightning storm. Hopefully it doesn’t hit us but at least we will be in tents this time. Rough day that I can’t really get into as it is super personal but everything worked out which is what is important. Tomorrow we get into Ashland, and then we go to Marc’s wedding in Vegas!!!!!!! It’s going to be so weird getting off trail for the first time.
