Day 110
Scott mountain campground to siphon lake junction - 24.9 miles
Total - 1586.7 miles
Rocklicker got to camp despite all bets against him. We were asleep by 8 though. Woke up the next day and hit the road. It is Caleb’s birthday!!!! Sadly, we had no service so I couldn’t post a girly pop birthday post for him lol. It will be a day late. Lots of up, so I quickly lost Caleb. It was gorgeous as always. We hit water but I didn’t see Caleb so I thought he was cooking like crazy but he was just as the next spring. Got moving and finished the last bit of climbing. We had spat like usual lol but at this point it’s normal as we fight like we are siblings. I try not to take it too personally. We ate lunch at the next water source after the climbing. Breakfast has not been enough for me. I eat one pop tart, 1 boba bar, and a Luna bar. Starving. Makes sense but calorie wise it’s highly caloric which is what I am aiming for obviously. Lunch was a bagel, salami, and cheese which always hits. We cruised through the burn section before hitting a stream that was labeled a river which is clearly wasn’t. We hung out there waiting for rocklicker to catch up. We ended up hanging out with swansan who my dad met at chicken spring lake. We’ve been seeing the guy on and off. He’s the one that skipped the sierras to snowboard in mammoth and then ended up meeting a guy who paid for everything for the next week for him. Anyways, cool guy. While we were waiting and after soaking our feet, the clouds rolled in and thunder began. Rocklicker pulled up right as the rain started falling in fat droplets. We waited it out before it slowed down and Caleb and I bolted for it. We had 6 miles left with a lot of uphill. It really wasn’t so bad. It was a guessing game if the rain was just going to mist or fall faster. I ended up switching my rain jacket on and off twice playing the game. The last mile soaked Caleb and I. Right as we were pulling into camp we also heard cowbells. I hate hiking with cow and Caleb always makes fun of me for it. Number 1, who wants their wilderness tainted with cow shit and cow noises, number 2 they are curious and will stalk you, number 3, they smell. Nobody wants that. Caleb thinks I’m scared of them. I just don’t like hiking with them in the area. Dad would agree. I bet if I wasn’t so tired I could find more reasons but those are the main ones. Caleb and I set up and started cooking with rocklicker showed up looking incredibly dry. Apparently we had been zooming that we caught the rain instead of the rain catching us. He had avoided it and we were cold because of it. I wanted to go to bed as I was so cold in my wet clothes but instead I just changed lol. We chit chatted. Before called it and we headed to bed. They keep saying that they are going to shake my tent and make cow noises. The fuck they won’t. Now I am all snuggled up in bed while it is drizzling outside.
I’ve been having these painful scans form in the corner of my lips. It hurts so bad to open my mouth and I have no idea what it is. I keep putting carmex on it to keep it moist but it seems to be getting worse. UGH. My foot didn’t hurt as bad today as well. It’s so much easier to go uphill than downhill. I think I was just over pronating on my right foot causing pain on the top of the foot. Once I fixed it it felt good. Hopefully…
