Day 109

Written on Jul 30th 2025 at 1:58 AM

Campsite to Scott mountain campground - 31.2 miles

Total - 1561.8 miles

Today was a blur honestly because I was so out of it. Woke up around midnight to go pee and the stars were phenomenal. Last nights camp spot is easily in the top two best camp sites on the pct so far. Views of Shasta in the morning as the sun rose behind her was actually insane. I am personally a sunrise girly. Nothing like the world waking up to bird song and colors dancing across the sky. The mosquitos somehow got so bad in the morning when there were none the night before. We haven’t had a bad mosquito experience in awhile so I was starting to get real angry fast. Started moving and immediately felt pain in my right foot which persisted all day. Nothing too bad but it was the tendons under my big toe which have been agitated for a lil bit now, the top of my foot was hurting as well along with the outer side ankle where tendinitis tends to form. The ankle was awful as it only hurt for a short amount of time only when I mis-stepped over a blown down. So rarely. It was brutal though because I felt so slow and I was in pain. The hip wasn’t great as well but it warmed up quickly. I ended up taking 4 ibeprofen to reduce any inflammation that I could. It really didn’t work for my top foot pain. I ended up loosening my shoes which helped a lot but not entirely. It was a pretty flat day but for some reason I wasn’t feeling it at all. The views were amazing as I hugged the mountain side for majority of the day, winding between hills. I passed a good amount of day hikers but never once a Pcter which is relatively new for me. Always see a couple but we haven’t hit the high number of pcter that we are used to. I passed a group of older folks which one of them exclaimed that PCTers never stop to smell the flowers. We do the best we can but we have a timeline lady. We are doing our best goddamit. We stopp for lunch around 10am, which was delcious because I got to eat 2 bagels today. We had done about 14 miles by 10am. I think that’s a record for me. Clearly I wasn’t slow, I was just feeling slow. Caleb and I weaved in and out of each other for the rest of the day. At one point it was so hot and humid that we both chugged two liters of water in 5 miles. Luckily we filled up 10 miles out from camp. Last 10 were brutal as I just wanted to be done. I was still hurting and I was so eepy. I was convinced if I stopped and laid down I would fall asleep within 5 seconds. That made the hiking not so fun. I was just tired. I stopped for two more snack breaks before singing my way down the last 2 miles. Got down to the road, where we saw some pct hikers trying to get a hitch into Callahan for a bar. They told Caleb it was to break up the long miles in between Shasta and etna. It’s a 100 miles….same amount we have been doing between every town in Northern California. So silly. I hobbled my way into the campsite and exclaimed that I wasn’t going to be fun tonight as I was so tired. Realized I should’ve put a lil more emphasis on that I was joking. I’m always fun duh. I put my feet up for a good 15 minutes and felt all the blood rush to my heart. A good ass feeling. Set up and ate before chit chatting for a lil. So many flies and so many wasps at camp and it was starting to piss me off. It’s a really early night tonight as we both got so eepy. Rock still isn’t to camp. Rip.

Forgot to mention, rocklicker did not make it to camp or meet us in the morning like he said he would. The two men are cut from the same cloth. Wont be getting into camp until late…if he even does that.
