Day 89

Truckee to I-80 rest stop - 4 miles

Total - 1158.6 miles

Woke up as I normally do. I know crazy. Slow start, bascally scrolled for a while which always makes you feel so incredibly glorious in the morning. Finally I mustered up the energy to go take a shower which did nothing for my greasy ass hair but the hot water felt sooooooo good. After, we packed up and tried to grab a hitch into truckee for breakfast at squeeze-it or something like that. Didn’t have to wait for long as a sweet lady with a SUV picked us up. We met Rocklicker there and we ordered food. The waiter…omg….i ordered the breakfast burrito and he went “potatoes or fruit cup.” Of course I chose fruit cup as it was offered to me. He did the same thing with everyone. GUESS WHAT?! THE FRUIT CUP WAS NOT INCLUDED AND IT WAS $2.50 extra. The man never mentioned that to us. Second he offered cheese and onions to the other orders. Never said a price or anything and made it seem like it was an option includes in the meal. Same this happened to them. Extra charge. So scummy. It was fine as Louisa was paying for me as I paid for a pizza on the fourth. Still scummy though. He also only brought us one check so we played card roulette and I got to pick. Initially I picked Louisa’s but since basically no one can pay her bc no one has PayPal, I ended up picking Caleb’s lol. After we grabbed another hitch to the library. It was the back of a truck. Initially it was fun but then the wind was whipping my nappy hair around and everyone was crammed in and uncomfortable. Rocklicker ended up falling balls deep into gourmets foot. Gourmets response was “you are on my foot” LOL. I was dying laughing at that. Crazy. We did have to walk a lil to the library where we chilled for four hours charging all our stuff. People came and went doing chores but I sat my ass down the entire time chit chatting with different people. Around 4:30 we headed out to our hitch who brought us to soda springs for Ben from Boston to drop off his bear can and then to the trailhead. Before though we had to get rocklicker his 40oz which he ended up talking to some other hikers while we caught up with Klara who had just gotten in! She doesn’t like whip cream so I got the joy of eating that off her milkshake as well as stealing one too many fries. Caleb, Ben and I then headed out. I was yapping this time around while hiking. Orginally we planned on 7.5miles but after recounting my entire love life to them since high school, I got us off trail and lost. We had to bush whack or in this case be bush whacked back to trail right before the highway. It was fun though. We then just decided to camp right by the rest area as I didn’t want to go any farther. Rock licker pulled up right after us with a beer in his smart waterbottle. We set up, chatted, played space team, and got eaten alive by mosquitos. Ben from Boston is still cowboying as he’s too lazy (his words) to set up his tent. Beast. Personally, I will never cowboy if there are mosquitos around. Not even one. Big day tomorrow but super excited to be back on trail.

Side note: tooting like crazy. So smelly too.
