Day 16

White water preserve to mission creek camp spot - 17.7 miles

Total - 235.5 miles

Probably the best sleep I’ve gotten this entire adventure. Fell asleep by 7:30pm before the sun went down and despite waking up multiple times, the rest was great. Woke up early as I always do and got up and at em for the long day ahead of taking on mission creek. Started off with a light sprinkle and a full rainbow before we had to cross the white water preserve river. Then for 17 miles we were route finding and walking on a mix between sand, gravel, and rocks/biulders. Kinda of a slog. We were so focused on route finding and thinking about every step that we didn’t get to look around all that much. It was gorgeous though when I did look up as hopefully the pictures will load. It was mark, Christian, and I aka Aida and the Germans. Tough day physically between the rocks and other stuff including my hip hurting once again. I started messing with the shoulder straps, switching the water bottle position and other stuff. It would come and go on my right hip almost like a icy hot feeling. Finally I thought that blood flow might have been cut off from my tight ass hip belt so I loosened it and it felt better. Still had to consult the mother PT. She thought it was from the constant tilt that I have positioned myself in with a heavy pack which makes sense as it doesn’t hurt when I’m going downhill (standing straighter) compared to uphill. So I will attempt that tomorrow to see if I see a difference. The hil doesn’t hurt at all once I take off the pack so I definitely think that’s the issue. The other issue I had today was once I got into camp a girl was double over in pain with gas cramps and needing to poop. Mission creek is notorious for having bad water but I hadn’t drank any today so I’m not sure what it is. Had to text the dad to see if it is giardia. Wouldn’t be the worst thing as I have the pills for the cure. It doesn’t seem all too serious but I have pooped three time since getting to camp which is unfortunate as the campsite is in a horrible area for pooping. One flat spot (our site) on a hill so I gotta climb for the poops. Week three of this adventure isn’t treating me all too well. Excited to get to Big Bear and figure out some shit and rest.
