August 11, 2024 - Day 86
The Oregon Coast Trail has given us quite an excitement. It was a 12 mile walk along a beautiful beach with mountains as a backdrop as we beach combed for sand dollars, shells, and other sea creatures. The OCT is a lot less popular than the PCT so seeing four people in backpacking packs walking along the beach raised a lot of questions for a lot of different people.
We met a guy by the name of Mike who was so excited for us and our journeys. The news of how far we’ve walked and our willingness to roll with the punches made some of their weeks as Mike put it. There are thousands of blackberry bushes along the trail as well that give us some time to stop and pick the local fruits for some time before continuing on. Mackenzie and I are camped on the beach listening to the waves crash in, both exhausted from the day. Walking on sand uses entirely different muscles.
Happy new trails…
