August 3, 2024 - Day 78

Written on Aug 6th 2024 at 3:53 AM

OREGON. We did a bit of Yellow Blazing to get there but it’s wild to be into Oregon. NorCal is real burned so it’s been a lot of exposed sections and hitching north. We did a 22 mile hike to get to camp but with about 6 miles left, we made it to Oregon.

Right before, we stayed in a cabin as we avoided some afternoon showers. Spoons’s mom and spoons hung back at the cabin for the night to sleep on the cots and take advantage of the privy with TP.

Overall, it was a super cruisey day with not too much elevation relative to previous days.

August 4, 2024 - Day 79

Written on Aug 6th 2024 at 3:57 AM

Today we were expecting to get up super early to crush the 22 miles we had into town. It wasn’t until 8 that we officially got moving… sleep didn’t come easy last night so it was a slow morning.

After getting moving, the miles came easy to us. At one point, mackenzie and I even started running. Our packs are light and compact now without the bear can. We shipped our warm clothes up to Washington and saved the space/weight which has been much appreciated.

After getting to the trailhead near Ashland, we walked to Callahans to have their $10 all you can eat pasta for PCT hikers and then got an Uber into town. We’re staying in a motel to link up with Dice, Berry, and Candy Crush. Oregon has been amazing so far. Beautiful foliage and cruisey miles.

Happy reunion…
