June 11, 2024 - Day 25
This morning, we woke up a bit slow and wandered our way to a fire station about 5 miles from our camp spot. I hung back in the morning a bit and wandered to the fire station to see Spoons and Tiber not present. I kept moving down the hill a bit and found them both next to a jeep wrangler with some beers in their hands. We stumbled upon some additional trail magic. A couple was taking pictures of us in the lot while giving us beer and asking us questions. They weren’t aware the PCT went through the lot they were in. It was a cool coincidence and we had some laughs and shared some stories.
After moving on to our next water source, my right leg started giving me some issues. I’m relieved that my Achilles is feeling much better but it’s seems like there will always be something as my body is getting used to this new stress. I’m thankful it just seems to be some pulled muscles. Some good sleep and flatter landscape should help aid in some healing.
After pushing from water source to water source, we finally approached a ranger station that had rumors of trail magic. Sure enough, there was a guy named Todd handing out beers and sodas. We hung out there for a while and talked with Dirty Fedora. He’s a legally blind hiker attempting to be the first to hike the whole PCT. He was hilariously spunky and had wonderful stories to share with us. I also met a guy from Acton, MA and we exchanged the names of everyone we knew who lived in each others town to find a couple mutual friends. After finishing our beers, we pushed an additional 4 miles to camp at around mile 440. Tomorrow, well hit Agua Dulce to have some Mexican food and resupply our food for our next push to Tehachapi.
Sore legs…
