Day 102

Written on Aug 8th 2022 at 2:00 AM

We strolled an easy 7 miles into a parking lot, passing mile 2000, and getting a ride to Eugene from Colin! Got our chores done (mostly) and prepared our final two resupply boxes that will support our hike to the end of our hike!

Man did we need this time off. But we can finally see the end of our hike coming up which is wild. Just 500 miles left!

Day 103

Written on Aug 8th 2022 at 2:00 AM

We spent our zero with Colin and Anna with a screening of The Shining (to prepare for Timberline), a trip to the farmer’s market, then a lovely float down the McKinsey river, topped off with an amazing home-cooked surf and turf meal! Can’t beat that, even in real life!

We are so so grateful to Colin and Anna for hosting us. They are incredible chefs, and so generous with their time, space, and help!

Day 104 - Timberline Lodge

Written on Aug 8th 2022 at 2:00 AM

Today we hiked just 10 miles after getting dropped off by Colin at Frog Lake. We had to skip 87 miles to go around a closure for the Lionshead fire that burned in 2021.

This easy day was exactly what we needed to re-enter trail life after a much needed zero in Eugene.

We got amazing views of Mt. hood and the terrain really wasn’t that rough except for the sand (why sand? Thought we left that behind in the desert?).

We finished our day off with a visit to the Timberline lodge and got soup and bread, beer, and hot cocoa ? Our bellies are full, and we’re ready for 50 packed miles to Cascade Lockes!
