Day 142

Written on Jul 14th 2022 at 11:24 PM

I’m glad this was only a 14-ish mile day because the climbs today completely wrecked me. It was a butt kicker and only had one place to get water (yummy yellow water!) in the middle of the day and then an amazing pipe spring with crystal clear, cold water right at the shelter .2 miles before the top of Glastonbury Mountain where I’m camping. I heard the sunset and sunrises are amazing so I thought it would be like a bald with big views but it’s actually heavily wooded and the only way to see a sunset or sunrise is to climb to the top of the tower. I did climb it to get some nice pictures but it’s already getting a little chilly at 7pm so I’m already under my quilt and don’t plan on getting out of it until the morning. I have a big 19+ mile day planned for tomorrow so I want to get to sleep and hopefully get up as early as possible. I really only have one big mountain climb tomorrow so I hope I am able to crush the miles quickly. If I can push as far as I want to, I’ll be set up for only a 10-ish mile day to a road where I hope to find a ride into Manchester Center. Being that’s a Saturday and the hotels are rediculously expensive but I need to go there to resupply, I have an interesting plan that will be a first for me but I’ll wait to say what that is when I know it’s what I’m going to do.
