Day 80 - Dunsmuir
I am definitely feeling the “NorCal Blues” these days. Norcal is notorious as a major drop out point for many hikers as the landscape becomes more dense, and we realize that even now, 1,500 miles in, we are still in California. I’m just tired, wishing I could sleep past 5:30 or just not walk anywhere today. But I know that Oregon is on the horizon, just 8 days away now!
Tim isn’t feeling the blues as much, definitely still enjoying the day to day of hiking, but his morale took a huge hit from this bee sting. The swelling in his lower calf was extreme today, and it was very sensitive to the touch.
We are both taking advantage of an airconditioned tiny house tonight in Dunsmuir (just south of Mt. Shasta, CA). We keep estimating how many miles we have to go before the next full 0, or how many miles we have to do per day to earn a new one. Perhaps the hiking will get more inspiring in this next section to put off those thoughts, but for now it’s the town days that are keeping me going.
