Day 139

Written on Jul 12th 2022 at 12:32 AM

It was a chilly morning but not cold enough to stop me from wanting to pop up, pack everything up and hike 2.3 miles into town. The trail goes through the town of Dalton, MA. A little way off trail is a Juice ‘n Java coffee shop. I was able to get a breakfast burrito (too small, in my hungry opinion) and a hot chai latte. That’s where I was able to get enough service to create and upload my last 3 days of Relive videos. I also booked a motel stay to get cleaned up tomorrow. After that, I ordered and packed out a sausage, egg & cheese on an Asiago bagel. I carried that to have for lunch. I should have ordered two. I wasn’t satisfied after devouring it. Feed me more!!! After lunch on a ledge with a view, I descended into Cheshire, MA. I so badly wanted to stop at an ice cream place and get a banana split I heard about but I was about to start climbing Mt. Greylock and knew that ice cream would make me sluggish. It was tempting though. I made it up the steep climb and to Mark Noepel Shelter where I’m set up in my tent once again. I’m hear with a good group of guys. It’s been a fun evening. I’m ready to get up in the morning and finish the climb up to the top of Mt. Greylock and see the memorial up there. I can take my time because the descent down will take me to a road to Williamstown, MA. That will be a 9.7 mile hike. I’ll then walk down the road a couple extra miles to Williamstown Motel. It’s a small place but I can get cleaned up, do laundry, eat and resupply at places around it to have breakfast the next day and then hit the trail to cross into Vermont and the 1,600 mile marker.
