We covered 23.6 miles by 3:30 pm today to make it in to SLT to visit Abbey! We outwalked a storm, crossed some treacherous snow fields on Carson Pass, and just generally had a great hike out with our friend Runway.

Abbey took us to a great little summer concert and we even got an early night’s sleep which was much needed.

Some zeros are better than others. This was a pretty amazing one thanks to Abbey! Quick chores due to a lent vehicle, lake day on a boat, rum runners, hot tub x 2, sunset on Party Rock, and beers and live music. ?

Oh hail no!

We were hailed on in a thunder and lightening storm about 5 miles into our hike, so after hiding in the trees for an hour, we set up camp early, at 2:30 pm to potentially wait out the storm. This was the right decision.

We ended up making it another 5 miles to get us closer to our planned stop and reduce miles to Truckee.

The morning was a lovely mix of packing and eating a huge breakfast at Bert’s. 10/10 would recommend their French toast!
