Day 54 - Tuolumne Meadow

Written on Jun 20th 2022 at 2:32 AM

Woke with frozen water, our latest wake up yet at 6:15 am!

We dealt with ice and frost as we went over our last Sierra pass, Donahue, arrived in Yosemite National Park, and descended into Tuolumne Meadows and the general store. We spent too long at the store meeting new hikers and stuffing ourselves with ice cream and other food.

Today we crossed paths with myself in 2016, right around the same day six years ago that I was heading south bound for Whitney. It was such an accomplishment to get further north than I ever did back then. I’m proud of how far we’ve made it and am excited for new sights again!

Day 55

Written on Jun 20th 2022 at 2:58 AM

Today we had our new latest wake up of 6:30 am with a delayed pack up! We didn’t hit trail until 7:55 this morning so we knew today would have more causal mileage. 22 miles today had us totally wiped out, with three separate ascents and descents with some pretty steep grade. It was less frigid than yesterday, but I still had frozen bottles and frost on our tent.

We are aiming for much higher miles tomorrow so we’ll be passed out by 8 pm tonight.
