I hiked 22.1 miles today. The day did not go as expected. I was going to hike all night into tomorrow to see how much I could get done but then my shoes started falling apart so I had make an emergency stop at a Walmart for some cheap shoes then get some real hiking shoes down the way hopefully soon.

I hiked 19.1 miles today. I didn’t get started hiking this morning until 12. So even though it wasn’t that many miles I’m happy with it. I didn’t really post much yesterday partially because it was the most discouraging day I’ve had on trail and I was pretty depressed. I’m feeling better now but it’s still pretty hard to pick myself back up from yesterday. The reason I got started so late was because I decided it would be better if I got some actual hiking shoes but the only place that had some was the North Face so I got some there. So far I can’t complain about them as a last minute emergency shoe at least they’re meant for hiking and not some off brand shoe from Walmart. I went through the lemon squeeze today it’s the first place I had to take off my backpack and carry it in front of me kinda holding it up and setting it in front of me. I passed the 1,400 mile marker today now I have less than 800 miles to go, O yeah. I had thought that I might have to do the dirty thirty which is not showering or washing my clothes for 30 days. But plans change so I’ve now taken a shower two nights in a row wow it’s kinda weird, nice but weird. I stayed at a motel last night now I’m at Bear Mountain Inn and it’s literally right next to the trail. So now I’ll be able to eat the breakfast they have here then get right back on trail that’s about as nice as it gets. From a couple of the views on top of these very small mountains I could see New York City it was kinda cool with all the tall buildings standing out there in the distance. I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
