Day 90
What a difference from the last three days of heat warnings. Today’s high is supposed to be 65° F. My hike started at 57° F and it was amazing! The biggest complaint I have right now about hiking in Shenandoah National Park is that the grills at the wayside where you can get burgers and such do not open until after memorial day. I’m a lousy one week early! Ugh! I think the wildlife was enjoying the temperature as much as I did. First I came across a rabbit on trail and then a deer. I had to use digital zoom to get a real good picture of them before they ran off but I hate using digital zoom. Hopefully the picture looks OK on a larger screen and not too pixelated. I’m happy it’s a short day today. I got to the Big Meadows Resort and got a few beers, salad and wings. Damn, was that pricy! I would have even ordered some fries after but the server wasn’t very kind nor seemed to care to serve us. It wasnt like they were busy. There were four servers walking around and only 6 tables of customers. Anyway, I took my time because I only had 3.8 miles to go. Unfortunately, the rains came so it was a wet walk down to the hut. Looks like it’s going to be my 3rd time in a shelter. It’s supposed to rain constantly all night and into tomorrow so I’m not in the mood to set up the tent in it. Have a good night and hopefully it calms down tomorrow.
