Day 25

Written on May 21st 2022 at 3:10 AM

Today we walked on clouds, drank fresh sodas from a trail angel, and made it my longest distance yet.

We had a quick pack up in the morning and made it almost 12 miles by 10 am! This served us well as we left the remaining 12 miles for the afternoon. We sadly missed trail magic at the fire station water pit stop, but got a soda from a stranger who worked in the park just before our final climbs (19 miles in).

Somehow, we avoided serious shin splint pain! Our goal is to make it to Agua Dulce tomorrow for Tim’s pre-birthday dinner! This is still 24 miles out so we’re just praying my shins hold out. It felt so good to hit bigger miles today though after a long avoidance of pushing hard.

The sunset at our campsite was stunning. Fog rolled in starting around 4 pm on our hike and we stayed above the clouds catching our breath at the beauty and luck of the sights and ensuing sunset. Magical.
