Day 24

Written on May 20th 2022 at 3:24 AM

Today we did super low mileage to allow folks behind us to catch up, which meant lots of reading and lots of time to do essentially nothing.

This was not my favorite—it certainly made me appreciate keeping busy the way we have been. We didn’t get out of the tent until 8, didn’t leave camp until 9:15, barely hiked anywhere then took a break for lunch and waited for two hours when someone we knew finally showed up six miles into our day. I am happy that we are done slowing down, and am excited to see the scenery change again.

I finished the book I was reading, so I started to make stick art which was a great way to pass time and very meditative. I’m excited to download more books though.

400 miles for most! Only 340 for me, but this is still much further than I’ve ever backpacked before and it feels incredible.
