Day 41

Written on May 18th 2022 at 4:00 AM

22 miles

It’s a miracle what a proper nights sleep, laundry, and a shower does for one’s spirits. Feeling a million times better and justified with our unplanned stop at the hostel after only a couple days. We did get a late start though. Left the hostel after 9:30 am after we slept in, had a few cups of coffee and sampled all 5 types of homemade jam this lady makes. 2 of them were award winning and I must agree.

The miles are flying by for the first half of the day. This trail is indeed a green tunnel except we were greeted with a nice view from our lunch spot. We ate, laid in the sun, and chatted for a little over an hour before we got going again.

The last ten miles followed a ridge line around a basin so it was gradual never ending ups and downs but nothing too strenuous.

We arrived at our shelter later than usual around 7:30. We setup our stuff and take a hobo bath in the nearby stream.

We did make a fantastic dinner though. We hard boiled a couple eggs, made a pot of instant mashed potato’s, added cheddar cheese, county gravy and bacon. Breakfast for dinner. One of the better meals we’ve had on trail
