Day 57

Written on May 14th 2022 at 1:03 AM

I hiked 27.1 miles today and wow it was a tough day. It started out in the rain and fog and the trails all muddy. That’s very discouraging after a while because the light never changes it never seems like the middle of the day and bright, but then it also is never night time dark. It’s always seems like the day should be almost over even right after I started. That might be the most discouraging part. The weather did clear up for an hour or two after lunch which was super nice cause I got some nice views. This morning I was hiking along looking at the ground then I looked up and saw six deer 50 feet off the trail just staring at me it was kinda strange. But there are a lot of deer around here and they don’t seem to be very afraid of people. I kinda struggled today emotionally and physically. My ankles were feelin a little iffy today even a little more iffy than the past couple days. And emotionally I was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Truthfully I was thinking about home and my family and friends and realized how blessed I am. I knew it before but now it’s really sinking in more how great my family and friends are and when I was thinking about all that I realized how much I miss y’all and I kind of started crying while I was hiking so that was fun it took a little while to stop crying but it’s all good now. I can’t wait to see all of you guys. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
