Day 32
Yep, Judah this one was for you, you asked for it so I did it. I hiked 26.2 miles today a full marathon. I had to think to myself a couple times that this is for Judah as motivation but I got it done. The day started out in the rain and cold and wind which really isn’t that fun of a combination. The rain stopped after a while but not before my shoes and socks were soaked completely. The hiking today was relatively easy though so that was nice. Today is the first day of my life that I think I felt what old men feel when their stiff. I stopped for lunch today for about 30 minutes and when I started up again I was so stiff I had so many kinks it was kinda alarming but then my youth took over again in a couple minutes I was good again. So that was my few minutes of old age, I hope that doesn’t happen again for a while. I passed over into Virginia from Tennessee so goodbye to Tennessee and hello Virginia, for a really long time. I’m at mile 470 right now so I’m getting close to a quarter of the way. I got into Damascus, Virginia at about 4:30 then I got a room booked and I got settled in and showered by about 6 then I ate and boy was it good. I had, per mom’s request, a chicken salad with fries and boneless BBQ wings and iced tea to top it all off, it was tremendous. I’m hoping to get some good sleep tonight and zero tomorrow to get fully rested after a couple long days on trail.
