Day 51
Okay, today I’d definitely up there as one of my favorites so far. It was just warm enough that I was fine getting out of my tent in my shorts for the first time. A little chilly but you warm up quick when hiking. Sorry to all the other hikers who were blinded by my saltine cracker white legs. These things haven’t seen sunlight in a VERY long time. LOL! The hike down to Laurel Fork Falls was just amazing! The falls were, of course beautiful but I was on cloud 9 at the point just after the falls where you walk along a rock face right next to the rushing water. I’ve seen that part in so many videos so it was so surreal to be there myself and experience it. The climb out of the ravine as crazy but my legs were going full steam today. I felt good and felt alive! Near the top of the big climb today, the weather turned fast. It got cold, very windy, fogged in and rain was really coming down. I booked it all the way down to Shook Branch Rec Area. I made it in record time. Actually made just over 28 minute per mile. Jason arrived and I’m so happy to be getting off trail after 5 days out. Let’s just say I’m extremely ripe and everything is dirty. Just ready to get clean. Tomorrow will be a nice zero and I hope to eat everything in town. Cheers!
