Day 3

Written on Apr 10th 2022 at 11:27 PM

3 miles

People in Georgia are incredible nice. Southern Hostpitality is really a thing. We had to hitch out of Denalenga (sp) and as soon as we walked out of the our resupply an older gentleman pulled up and offered to take us directly back to the trail. It was snowing on us again for the second day. We did 3 miles out of Cooper Gap and ran into a sign that said Trail Magic. Of course we followed the arrow and walked down the hill. You could see a white flag with the Pabst Blue Ribbon logo waving in the wind. Under that flag was a tent with Yahtzee and Mulligan cooking for hikers. They have a son that is a day behind that they are doing trail waiting, doing trail magic for. We entered into camp and were promptly offered our choice of 3 different kind of quesadillas and all the snacks and beer your could drink. It was so cold that we decided to end our day right then and there.

Yahtzee and Mulligan were AT hikers last year and are my kind of people. We exchanged stories late into the night aided with the fuel of the 190 proof everclear that they braught with them from Wisconsin. The temperatures got down into the low 20’s again last night. That being said I was actually the comfiest I had ever been. I was wearing every piece of clothing I had.
