Day 45
Only a 3 mile day today. It was 34 degrees in my tent this morning and I’m about to head into the Roan Mountains. Tonight and tomorrow is showing freezing rain and 1-3 inches of snow up at the mountain elevations. I’m sticking to my plan even if it means slowing me down. Hey, it’s all an adventure and I’m in no rush. I got a shuttle back into Erwin where I will stay tonight and tomorrow and get refreshed waiting for amazing weather after this snow front passes. I’m set with a shuttle Sunday morning back to Iron Mountain Gap where I have a 5-day push ahead of me until I meet up with Jason on the 14th. I’ll be so happy to switch to my new pair of shoes! My Lone Peak 4.5 have been fantastic but a new pair of Lone Peak 6.0 are ready for the task at hand. I doubt I’ll have anything to journal for tomorrow. I’ll just be doing chores. I’ll be back on trail on Sunday but with a 5-day push before getting off trail, it may be a while until you hear from me again.
