Day 24
This day went different than planned. I had planned an 8.3 mile day and wanted to stay on top of Cheoah Bald (elevation 5,052 ft) with a stunning view where I could watch a sunset, sunrise and the stars all night. Only problem was a thunderstorm rolling in. By the time I reached the top and snapped the picture I have loaded here, there was rolling thunder coming in and I wanted to get off that mountain as fast as possible. After a quick assessment of my options, I pushed on and set up camp down in Locust Cove Gap (AT mile 147.4) and my Garmin watch says I did 10.89 miles. I’ll take the bonus miles! That either means my planned 11 mile day to Cody Gap tomorrow will now be the 8.5 mile day or I can push on to the next shelter l, which would make an 11.8 mile day. Something I should be able to do now. My mileage, even with the plantar fasciitis issues I’m having, have gotten better. Either way, I’m set to arrive to Fontana Village where I will need to spend 2 days as I have to get a package from the post office there with my new pack and then send this one back (broken handle). Anyone want to send me some luv can send it to Fontana Village for Sunday or Monday or Venmo @LastCall_hiker some Trail Magic. ? The room for 2 nights is costing me a fortune. (No, I have no shame while out here. LOL!)
