Day 14
Well this is new. Zero day today so for the price of a bunk, I got a private room… er, I mean Volkswagen van. It’s raining like crazy right now. Unfortunately, there’s a few leaks so a section of the bed is wet (I’m laying at an angle to stay away from that spot) but we have tarps over those areas to stop any more leaks. I stayed in a shared room here on the 5th but just had to request the unadvertised bed in the van. I mean, why not? I’m here for an adventure! How many chances will I come across to do something so wild? I’m happy because it’s like a private room at the price of a bunk. Sweet! Okay, I’m all wrapped up in my camping quilt listening to the rain patter in the room of this van. It should lull me right to sleep. Tomorrow is a big day! I have 11.8 miles planned and will be entering the 2nd of 14 States. So long Georgia. I’m on my way into North Carolina. My goal is to make it to Franklin, NC by the 12th to get a hotel room as the 13th is going to be COLD! The weather says snow with a low around 15 to 17. That will be 4 days out on trail so that’s a fine amount to stop for a resupply, laundry and a shower anyway.
