Day 8

Written on Mar 2nd 2022 at 5:00 AM

Back on trail today. Lucky from Above The Clouds hostel drove a few of us back to Neels Gap. A couple of the guys were slackpacking SOBO over Blood Mountain, one guy had to go see “Just Bill” at Mountain Crossing for a new pack and a lady named Generic Hiker was heading NOBO as was I. We decided to hike together and found we are both at the same pace. It was a pleasure hiking with someone with so much knowledge and we decided to have lunch and then just stay at Baggs Creek Gap, which by the end of the day turned to tent city. I had SO much fun with all of us gathered around talking and while I was afraid everyone would stay up late partying, luckily, everyone called it a night as the sun set… and what a beautiful color to the sky as it set. Oh, I also not only hung a bear bag on this trip for the first time, I got to teach 3 people how to hang a bag PCT style. It was an amazing day. Let the fun times continue. Planning on taking it easy on the miles for the rest of Georgia.
