Day 7
Not much to say about this day. I spent a zero at Above The Clouds hostel. What an amazing place! I didn’t think I would like staying at a hostel unless I got a private room. The idea of being in a bunkhouse was strange to me. Now I’ll start by saying earplugs are a MUST when staying at a hostel and my rubber earplugs are my favorite piece of gear. You never know how many snorers there will be or if there’s laundry going all night long that’s in the bunk rooms. Just be sure to have earplugs and you’ll have a great time. I met some of the best people here! When you’re at a hiker hostel and everyone has hiking in common, you’re already family. I feel blessed for meeting people like Gunny on trail and then to bump into him at the hostel. Just hiking around someone for a bit and then seeing that person again is like meeting up with an old friend. Gunny, I think you started following this. Hope to see you again on trail, my friend! Happy trails to you. There was also Prairy, who was a blast talking family and sharing doggy pics… along with Joker, Go-Go, Bigfoot, Little Spoon, Poster Board (suck it up… that’s your name now), and many others I’m just blanking on their trail names. A massive thanks goes to Lucky and Nimrod for running a fabulous hostel and for the good food, great stories, excellent advice and incredible hospitality. Tomorrow after breakfast, I’ll be shuttled back to Neels Gap where I’ll trek off into the woods once again until my next planned stop to clean up and resupply. Happy trails, everyone.
